ABSTRAK
The low use of the IUD is due to the low motivation of family planning acceptors
towards the IUD. Data from 9 Villages / Kelurahan in the Work Area of the
Bangko Jaya Community Health Center, Rokan Hilir Regency, Pematang Ibul
Village is one of the villages with the highest number of active family planning
participants, namely 1,245 people, but in the last 3 years none of the family
planning acceptors have used IUDs (0% ). Extension using leaflet media is one
way to increase the motivation of family planning acceptors towards the IUD. The
aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of counseling on the Intra
Uterine Device (IUD) on the motivation of women of childbearing age to use IUD
contraceptives in Pematang Ibul Village, Bangko Jaya Community Health Center,
Rokan Hilir Regency Work Area in 2020. This research is quantitative in type
using Pre Experimental Designs, one group design. Pre test and post test, samples
of 33 respondents with purposive sampling technique were analyzed using the
McNemar test. The results showed that there was the effectiveness of counseling
about the Intra Uterine Device (IUD) on the motivation of WUS to use the IUD
contraceptive with p = 0.035 and a Z value of 2.29> z table 1.96. It is
recommended that health workers provide counseling using assistive devices such
as leaflets or audio-visuals as a media for continuous outreach to female women
so that they are motivated to use the Intra Uterine Device (IUD).
