The Use of Group Discussion Towards Students’ Speaking Skill on X Grade of MA PP Darul Fatah
The purpose of this research is to find out the use of group discussion as a teaching method towards students' speaking skill on X grade of MA PP Darul Fatah during the 2024/2025 academic year. This research is quasi-experimental research. The study involved 40 students divided into two classes: X IPA, which acted as the experimental group, and X IKI, as the control group, with each class consisting of 20 students. The students in the experimental group learned through group discussion, while those in the control group were taught using traditional methods without group discussion. To analyze the data, the researchers used a T-test. The results showed a Sig. value (2-tailed) < 0.05 which is 0.002. Since the calculated Sig. value (0.002) was lower than the significance level (0,05), the researchers rejected the null hypothesis (Ho) and accepted the alternative hypothesis (Ha). This indicates that there is a significant difference in speaking skills between the students who learned with group discussion teaching method and those who were taught using conventional methods. In conclusion, the findings suggest that using group discussion in learning speaking is an effective way to enhance students' speaking skills.
